Insight Psychological Inc. its subsidiary, The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre, and affiliates (collectively known as “Insight Psychological,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy in connection with your use of Remii, its service companion app (“the App”). Applicable privacy laws, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, set out rules for the collection, use, disclosure, security, retention, and destruction of personal information.
Please read this privacy policy carefully as it describes our privacy practices and how we will collect, use, and disclose any personal information we collect from you, or that you provide to us, in connection with Remii. This privacy policy forms a part of and is incorporated into the Terms of Use for the App.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information when you register for an account, participate in interactive features, fill out a form or a survey, participate in a contest or promotion, make a purchase, communicate with us via social media sites, request client support, or otherwise interact with us. The information you provide and we collect may include:
Personal Details: such as your name, e-mail address, telephone, and street address.
Payment Details: payment information.
Transactional Information: information about a purchase, such as a description, time and date of the transaction, and other similar types of transactional information.
Employment or Membership Information: we may also collect employment or membership information if you sign up through Group Subscription sponsored by your employer or membership entity (for example professional association, union, etc.).
Views and Opinions: feedback, survey responses, and other information included within your interactions with us or otherwise provided via the App. Some users also provide information about how they are feeling in connection with providing feedback or other messages to us, but we do not infer any health-related characteristics from this information and only process it consistent with the purpose for which it was provided.
Other Information You May Provide: password, language settings, goals, wellness goals and activities, wellness habits, and moods and reflections you provide during check-ins.
Information from Other Sources: we may also obtain information from third-parties about your access and usage of the tools, resources, events, and features in the App provided, hosted, or facilitated by the third-parties and about any of your information mentioned above provided by you or inferred about you in your access and usage of the tools, resources, events, and features.
Device Information: information about the mobile device you use to access the App, Information collected by tracking technologies, described below in Mobile Analytics, that may identify you as an individual or allow online or offline contact with you as an individual, device identifiers set by your device operating system, and mobile network information.
Communications: we may retain a log of our communications with you such as when you utilize our chat-bot or provide us with feedback or market research.
2. Use of Information
We use the information we collect in the following ways:
To ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for your mobile device;
To send you transactional or relationship messages, such as receipts, account notifications, changes to the App, customer service responses, and other administrative messages;
To facilitate your engagement by providing you with information related to the App or its content, tools, resources, and features, or about upcoming events and promotions;
To allow you to participate in interactive features when you choose to do so;
Monitor and analyze trends, usage, activities and aggregate data in connection with the App so that we can better understand our users’ needs and expectations;
To help us identify groups of users by general geographic market (such as postal code, province, or country);
To inform our efforts to modify, enhance, add, or remove tools, events, resources, and features in the App to better serve you and/or improve your experience with the App;
To provide you with promotional communications, such as email, where you have provided consent to receive such communications;
To carry out our obligations arising from any agreements entered into between you and us; and
To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities and protect the rights and property of Insight Psychological and others, including to enforce our agreements and policies.
3. Disclosure of Information
We may disclose information about you as follows and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or at the time of collection, and as permitted or required by law:
With companies and contractors that perform services for us, including but not limited to email service providers, payment processors, fraud prevention vendors, analytics providers, advertising partners, and client management system provider;
With third-party providers of tools, resources, and features made available to you in the App when you access and use those tools, resources, and features;
To accountants, auditors, lawyers, and other outside professional advisors to Insight Psychological, subject to appropriate contractual obligations of confidentiality;
If we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, applicable law or legal process, including court order, subpoena, or other lawful requests by public authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements;
If we believe your actions are inconsistent with our user agreements or policies, if we believe you have violated the law, where necessary for the purposes of prevention, investigation, detection or prosecution of criminal offenses or the execution of criminal penalties, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Insight Psychological or others, or if it is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims;
In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business or of the App by another company;
Between and among Insight Psychological and our current and future partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, and other companies under common control and ownership;
If your App subscription has been provided to you by a Sponsor, like your employer or by someone else, like a family member who invited you to use one of their dependent subscriptions, we may inform them that you have signed up for the subscription they offered you;
If your subscription was obtained through a third-party promotion, such as bundled with a third-party service or offered through a promotional code distributed by that third party, we may inform them that you redeemed the offer; and
With your consent or at your direction. For instance, you may choose to share actions you’ve taken through the App using “share” or similar features or by linking your App account with third-party services.
4. Advertising and Analytics Services Provided by Others
We allow others to provide analytics services and serve advertisements on our behalf across the web and other online services. These entities use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, and other technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other websites and online services, including your IP address, device identifiers, web browser, mobile network information, pages viewed, time spent on pages or in apps, links clicked, and conversion information. Insight Psychological and others may use this information to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, deliver advertising and content targeted to your interests, and better understand your online activity.
5. Confidentiality and Security
The security of your personal information is important to us. We follow generally accepted standards to protect the personal information you submit to us. We use strict internal procedures and technical security features to try to prevent unauthorized access, use or disclosure of your personal information. If you have any questions about the security of your personal information, you can contact us at directors@insightpsychological.ca.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to the App and/or Insight Psychological; any transmission is at your own risk.
6. Email Communication
If you sign up to receive promotional materials from us via email, we will use the information you give us to provide the communications you requested.
You can unsubscribe at any time by selecting “unsubscribe” at the bottom of such communication or by emailing us at directors@insightpsychological.ca and we will remove you from our mailing list.
7. Protecting Your Password
Your password enables you to access certain parts of the App. You are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone and suggest that you change your password frequently. If you have enabled your device to access the app without entering a password, you are also responsible for ensuring your personal information is protected by not allowing others to use your device without your permission.
8. Third Party Websites
It’s important to guard your privacy online. If the App contains links to other websites, this privacy policy does not govern those websites. Whether we have posted those links or other organizations, or individuals have, you should read their privacy notices and make an informed decision about whether you want to use those websites or their services.
9. Accuracy and Correction of Personal information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the personal information that we collect, use, and disclose in accordance with this privacy policy is accurate and complete. Where we collect your personal information directly from you, we rely on you to provide us with accurate information, and to update that information as and when needed.
You may request access to, make corrections to, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time, subject to certain exceptions.
10. Limited Retention of Personal Information
We will retain the personal information we collect from or about you only for so long as we require it to satisfy the purposes for which we collected the information. We will also retain your personal information for as long as is required to meet our various legal and business obligations, which in some cases might be for a longer period than is necessary to satisfy the purposes for collection.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to change or update this privacy policy or any other of our policies or practices, at any time, and will notify users by posting such changes and the updated privacy policy on this page. Any changes or updates will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the App constitutes your acceptance of the changes and the updated privacy policy and your agreement to abide by the privacy policy as changed. We may also elect to notify you of changes or updates to this privacy policy by additional means, such as pop-up or push notifications within the App or email.
